8a30.10 Greenhouse effect

PURPOSE: To show the Greenhouse effect.

DESCRIPTION: A copper plate is warmed with a 200 Watt bulb and the temperature is displayed to the class, as shown. After equilibrium has occured at about 85 C, (this takes 45 minutes and it should be prewarmed before class) a glass cover plate is placed over the copper.  Initially the temperature will drop about 10 degrees.  But after 10 minutes the temperature will start to climb.  The temp will rise to a higher degree with the 'atmosphere' cover.
