PURPOSE: To show the braking effects of induced eddy currents.
DESCRIPTION: A slotted aluminum will swing between the poles of a strong magnet. But the swinging motion of the solid aluminum disk is damped out by eddy currents.
EQUIPMENT: The eddy current pendulum and magnet as shown in the photo are stored in the electricty and magnetsim cabinets.
