PURPOSE: To show the capillary effect.
DESCRIPTION: Five glass columns have different widths. Colored water in each column is seen to rise to different heights. The water in the narrowest column rises to the greatest height.
EQUIPMENT: The caplillary tubes are stored in the fluid mechanics cabinet. The colored water is stored on the shelf above the stock metal shelf.
SETUP NOTES: Use a camera to display it in the large lecture hall.
