PURPOSE: To show uniform linear motion with no forces and constant velocity.
DESCRIPTION: This demo is not really true to its claim. A dynamic cart is near frictionless, but it is not as good as the airtrack. Both a short 1 meter track and a very long 4 meter track are available. Prof. Pelcovits is seen with the 4 meter track in the above photograph. Masses can be added to the dynamic carts.
EQUIPMENT: Dynamic track , cart and masses.
SETUP NOTES: The track is stored on the wall above the door to room 166. The carts and masses are stored in the mechanics cabinet. The track must be leveled in the classroom the day before.
