PURPOSE: To show the motion of the center of mass.
DESCRIPTION: Toss an irregularly shaped object across the room. Take care to toss it with a flip so the irregular shape rotates about the center of mass. Charge the phosphorescent glow putty with light from a high wattage lecturn lamp. Turn off the room lights and toss in the dark. The glow spot makes a smooth parabolic path without rotation.
EQUIPMENT: Stored in the mechanics cabinet. Lamp is stored in general use.
SETUP NOTES: The glow putty should be charged during class.
