PURPOSE: To show Newton's Second Law.
DESCRIPTION: A force is applied to a glider. The velocity of the glider is constant and proportional to the force. The frictional force is minute. The blower is quite loud and effectively prevents lecturing while the demo is in progress.
EQUIPMENT: Air track, glider and blower.
SETUP NOTES: Critically and carefully balance the track at the lecture location the day before the demo.
