PURPOSE: To show the stable equilibrium of a rigid body.
DESCRIPTION: A board has a slanted edge. It fails to stand upright. Place a stick through a hole in the center of the board and hang a weight. The board will balance upright.
EQUIPMENT: Board and rod are stored together in mechanics. Use the 224 g weight stored in the weight drawer.
SETUP NOTES: The rod has red marks for the positons of the weight and
board. Hang the board over the edge of a table.
