HERON is an R & D project to develop a detector for carrying out experiments in low-energy neutrino physics and stellar astrophysics using neutrinos from the Sun. The detector is cryogenic, making use of superfluid helium as the detection medium and novel applications of micro-calorimeters. The project is being crried out principally at Brown University with participation of others from Heidelberg university and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.
