Welcome to the Brown University Department of Physics Astrophysics and Cosmology website!

The different astrophysics/cosmology groups at Brown are involved in a wide variety of research areas. Professors conducting research in these fields in the physics department are always eager for students to participate, even at the undergraduate level.

For those just beginning to explore their interest in astrophysics and cosmology, there are several undergraduate and graduate level course offerings. Students are also welcome to come to the astrophysics journal club where undergraduates, graduates, and faculty meet to discuss current research and discoveries. There is also support for those interested in an independent concentration in astronomy. In addition, the historic Ladd Observatory, located about a mile away from the center of Brown's campus, holds a weekly open house where students and community members can observe through the Ladd telescope or on the viewing deck as well as attend talks.
