Undergraduates looking for introductory courses in astronomy can choose between the 2 course sequence, PH 21: Beginning Astronomy and PH 22: Beginning Astronomy, or the more rigorous single semester course, PH 27: Introduction to Astronomy. PH 21 and PH 22 can be taken independently of each other. It is not necessary to take both. The only prerequistes for these three courses are high school level algebra. PH 21 and PH 27 are offered in the fall and PH 22 is a spring semester course.
Those looking for a more advanced class may consider PH 128: Introduction to Astrophysics and Cosmology, offered in the spring, which requires previous experience with calculus and basic physics. This course may also serve as an introduction for the graduate level course, PH 228: Astrophysics and Cosmology, offered in the spring of odd numbered years.
