Dalian is in the southernmost point of Liaodong Peninsula: with the Yellow Sea to her east and the Bohai Sea to her west; she is an attractive coastal city and a major Chinese Port, with a population of about 5.4 million.

Dalian was once a small village beside the sea, previously named "Lion Mouth" for her inaccessibility in the early Tang Dynasty; |
|
After the navy from Shandong, sent by Zhu Yuanzhang - the emperor of Ming dynasty, settled at the Port of Lushun in 1371, the village was renamed "Qingni Wa", which is nowadays the location of downtown Dalian. The city was first established in the late 19th century, during the periods of invasion by Russia and Japan. Because of this, Dalian now still possesses a lot of architecture and restaurants with the Russian or Japanese style. Dalian is one of the most charming cities in China, possessing many beautiful parks, squares, and excellent beaches, such as Bangchui Islet Beach, Jinshi Beach, Fujia Zhuang Beach, and etc. Great views could be easily caught nearly every corner of the city. However, each dalianer would especially recommend you, with one voice, to have a ride on the Coastal Road heading off from Bangchui Islet to Donghaitou; I am pretty sure the scene will impress you greatly. |
